Globular protein isolated from the liquid, which is a by-product of cheese production is known as whey protein. The liquid from which these proteins are derived is known as whey. It can be derived from cow or buffalo milk. It is one of the safe forms of protein, which can be used by vegetarians.

  • Consuming such shakes when one is on a weight loss process ensures that the lean muscle tissue is preserved. When the body lacks protein and amino acids, the same is stolen from the existing muscle tissue.
  • Another reason is the rate of glucose absorption in the blood low. The insulin levels are reduced, which in turn causes the body to burn more fat.

Simple Whey Protein Shake Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 2 tbsp unflavored, unsweetened whey protein powder
  • ½ cup low-fat milk
  • 8 - 9 crushed ice cubes
  • 1 tsp artificial sweetener (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Method:
  • The process to make this homemade protein shake, is simple. Mix the powder with milk in a blender and whip it till well-mixed.
  • Then add the remaining ingredients and continue to whip, till a stiff peak is formed.
  • Remove from the blender and serve immediately.

Banana Whey Protein Shake Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tbsp whey protein powder of your choice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 to 5 ice cubes
  • ½ cup low-fat milk
Method
  • In the blender mix together the banana and powder.
  • Then add vanilla extract, ice cubes, and low-fat milk to the mixture and continue to blend. Mix it thoroughly.

Chocolate Strawberry Whey Protein Shake Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 2 tbsp chocolate whey protein powder
  • 5 to 7 cubes of ice
  • 8 to 10 strawberries
  • ½ - ¾ cup water
Method
  • This is a great protein shake for muscle-building as well. You can increase the quantity of the powder.
  • Blend all ingredients in a blender, till thick stiff is formed and serve immediately.
You can use your own permutation and combination to come up with other weight loss recipes. It is better to use sugar-free powder, since you are on a weight loss diet. These shakes can be made with or without milk. If you are a vegan, then use soy milk for the same. It is advised to consult your health care professional, as there can be some side effects.
