Vitamin B complex is essential for several reasons, right from energy production to prevention of heart diseases. It is also required for healthy muscles and skin.
B vitamins, specifically vitamin B12, are essential for the synthesis of DNA.

Vitamins are classified into 6 types, A, B, C, D, E, and K.
Among the rest, B is a complex vitamin that is further subdivided into different types: vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin B7 (biotin), vitamin B9 (folic acid), and vitamin B12 (cobalamins; more commonly cyanocobalamin). It is a water-soluble vitamin.

➡ Cell metabolism is the most prominent function of B complex vitamins. It supports fat, protein, and carbohydrate metabolism.

Deficiency of vitamin B can lead to indigestion, undernourishment, fatigue, exhaustion, tingling, body ache, skin rash, brittle hair and nails. Severe deficiency causes anxiety, nervousness, and depression.
This can be prevented by having a diet containing foods rich in vitamin B like meat, chicken, liver, beef, kidney, turkey, tuna, salmon, milk, cheese, yogurt, whole grains, cereals, potatoes, bananas, lentils, nuts, chili peppers, brewer's yeast, and molasses, etc.
Vitamin B complex supplements are also available in the market that help in the prevention of deficiency diseases. However, it is recommended to consult a doctor before going for any vitamin supplements, as overdose of it can lead to toxicity. A supplement is usually recommended when you do not get sufficient vitamins from your diet.
Having a balanced diet every day helps in gaining all the benefits of vitamin B complex. Lastly, note that following a proper diet is necessary to keep deficiency diseases at bay. Take care!
