Known for its high omega 3 essential fatty acid, it contains eicosapentaenoic acid or EPA and docosahexaenoic acid or DHA. Salmon oil is derived from the fish which belong to the family of Salmonidae. This fish is known for its ability to swim long distances.
The specialty of this fish is that it takes birth in freshwater, travels to the ocean and returns to the freshwater for reproduction which is why salmon fish is known to be the fattest fish as it eats a lot. This results in a high amount of omega 3 fat content in salmon oil than the other fish oils. It boosts the HDL or the good cholesterol in the body.
Side effects of salmon oil can take you to some health problems. If the supplements are not taken in a prescribed manner, it can be dangerous for health. Fishy taste, nausea, strokes, heart failure, anemia, etc., are some of the common side effects of salmon oil.
Fish Oil:

Fish oil is derived from variety of fish like herring, mackerel, tuna, krill, trout, cod, etc. Quality of the fish oil depends upon its standards of purification.

Salmon is considered to have the highest amount of Omega 3 fatty acid as compared to any other fish oil. Salmon fish has a greater ratio in terms of fats, ranging from Omega 3 to Omega 6.
Some reports show that other fish oils like tuna and cod oil have less than 15% of the daily value of Omega 3 fat whereas salmon has nearly 87%. Not only this, salmon oil has many other health beneficial nutrients as well.
Salmon oil is considered to be more beneficial than fish oil. Although, fish oil is without a doubt an excellent option but, preferably, salmon oil is the better alternative. Both are considered to be very helpful in curing multiple diseases. Always remember to have salmon oil or fish oil supplements of a reputed brand.
It is absolutely necessary that the oil is properly processed and filtered as it can be poisonous because of the mercury and other poisonous substances present in the fish. Hence, if you want to take supplements of any of these oils, consult your doctor prior to taking these supplements so as to avoid its side effects.
