Over 70% Americans are opting for organic foods these days. In fact, in almost every grocery store or food mall, you will find a section with organically-grown fruits, vegetables, grains, etc. Let's find out more about the different dishes we can prepare using these ingredients.
The term 'organic' is related to the methods employed for growing fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy products, etc. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, organic foods are those that are produced using organic farming methods, sans the use of pesticides or even fertilizers that are made with synthetic ingredients.
This again extends to non-vegetarian food items, wherein, the meat, eggs, milk, etc., are obtained from animals that were not given any kind of antibiotics or growth hormones.
Thus, organic farming methods are said to be safer and more nutritious, as compared to the food products that are grown with methods involving the conventional pesticides and fertilizers. Organic foods are labeled organic, when they come from farms and processing plants that have been certified as organic by government officials.
Now, let's take a look at different dishes we can prepare using these organic fruits and vegetables.
