Homemade Recipes for Juice Fasting

In juice fasting, a person consumes only fruit and vegetable juice to get rid of toxins in the body. Here we bring to you some juice fasting recipes that you can make at home.
Do you feel lethargic, tired, irritable and drained of all energy? Then, maybe it is time to review your eating habits. A diet which is rich in saturated fats, and high in calories and processed food can make you feel sluggish and increase the level of toxins in the body.
Juice fasting is a great way of getting rid of the toxins in your system. This detoxification method involves the consumption of raw vegetable juice, fruit juice and water. Juice fasting is helpful for people suffering from constipation, bloating, excess weight, headache, fatigue, acne and skin problems.

Recipes for Juice Fasting

When you are following a juice fast, you need to consume fresh juice and not the packaged variety. Usually, a combination of freshly juiced fruits and vegetables are preferred.
The typical fruits and vegetables to be used for juice recipes include celery, carrot, kale, tomato, lettuce, apple, orange, pineapple, watermelon, spinach, beet and pomegranate. It is best to use organic produce for making juice.

Watermelon and Cucumber Juice

Cut a watermelon and remove its seeds. Wash and peel a cucumber. In a juicer, add one cup watermelon with half a cucumber and extract the juice.

Green Apple and Spinach Juice

Wash one cup of baby spinach thoroughly to remove dirt. Wash and cut two green apples. Extract the juice of spinach and green apples and drink immediately.

Pomegranate and Blueberry Juice

Cut a large pomegranate and remove all the seeds from the membrane. Place the pomegranate seeds and twelve to fifteen blueberries in a juicer to extract juice.

Apple and Celery Juice

Wash and cut two apples and remove its seeds and core. In a juicer, place the apple chunks and two stalks of celery. Extract the juice and add a teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Tomato and Red Pepper Juice

Extract the juice of two medium-sized tomatoes and half a red bell pepper. Drink this concoction immediately.

Pineapple and Mint Juice

Cut a pineapple, remove core and slice pineapple into chunks. Wash mint leaves. Extract the juice of two cups of pineapple chunks and a handful of mint leaves.

Carrot and Beetroot Juice

Wash two Swiss chard leaves, a beetroot, a handful of watercress, one carrot and one celery stalk. Cut the vegetables and place them in a juicer to extract juice.

Orange and Grapefruit Juice

Peel two oranges and place the orange segments along with half a grapefruit into the juicer. Extract juice and drink it.

Strawberry and Tomato Juice

In a juicer, place twelve to fifteen strawberries and one cup of diced tomato. Extract juice.

Papaya and Ginger Juice

Peel a papaya and remove its seeds. Peel one-fourth inch of young ginger and slice it. Blend the papaya and ginger in a food processor and pass it through a fine sieve to extract the juice.

Beet and Pear Juice

With the help of an electric juice extractor, extract the juice of one beet, one pear and two stalks of celery. Drink immediately.

Cherry and Grape Juice

Extract the juice from one cup of cherries and a half a cup of red grapes. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice to this concoction and drink immediately.
During the fast, you should abstain from drinking coffee, aerated drinks and packaged fruit juices. Although juice fasting is a great way to detoxify your body, it does have its side effects. People following the juice diet might suffer from headaches, weakness and dizziness.
This fast should not be followed by pregnant women, lactating mothers and people who have diabetes. It is best that you consult your doctor before starting this fast, if you are suffering from any health problems.
