Hemp Milk Nutrition

Madhura Panse
Every poor dear of a bovine soul, held at torturous and dirty dairy farms, will heave a sigh of relief if you've taken to liking healthful hemp milk. Here is a Story about its nutritional value.
Hemp milk, a non-dairy beverage, is a wondrous and fabulously healthy choice for those looking for a substitute for soy milk or having lactose-intolerance from drinking milk that comes from cows, other bovine beings, and udder-souls alike.
It is made from industrially-grown hemp plants that don't contain as much of the psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. The effects of drinking hemp milk aren't quite the same as smoking pot, as it contains none of the psychoactive chemicals that marijuana does.
Hemp milk nutrition is luxurious with essential fatty acids, digestible protein (ranking second to the previously better known soy-protein), magnesium, phytosterols, beta-carotene, calcium, fiber, iron, potassium, phosphorus, riboflavin, niacin and thiamine, and vitamin E.
Its nutritious value is quite wholesome, making you feel full before you think about another meal, and thus, is great for visceral fat reduction and for people, whose exercise regime seems to dwindle and are desperate to lose weight. Also, it is beneficial for toddlers and also for women suffering from cellulite.

The nutrients found in hemp milk that make it better than other kinds of milk, are -

Essential Fatty Acids

Essential fatty acids, omega-3 and omega-6, are found amply in this milk. Omega-6 fatty acids that are primary lipids found in skin, help strengthen and soften skin.
They are good for cardiovasular health and for the musculoskeletal system, cell-structure, and they protect the gastrointestinal tract. A part of our DNA, called telomere, usually shortens with age, infection, lack of exercise, obesity, or smoking.
And the alpha-linolenic acid (ANA) or omega-3 essential fatty-acids, that don't occur naturally in our body, but specifically in hemp milk, have been found out to slow down the aging process by as much as five years, thus proving to be one of the anti-aging foods.
Omega-3 fatty acids have other benefits, such as acting as an anti-inflammatory and anti-clotting ability, lowering blood pressure, treating depression, and increasing joint-flexibility. They aid and retain brain-functioning in deference to memory and concentration. Both essential fatty acids nourish and repair cell-membrane and tissues in our body; especially, those of our brain, heart, and eyes. These essential fatty acids, most definitively, mustn't be confused with the fat that your body goes on storing.

Digestible Protein Without Phytates and Enzyme Inhibitors

Hemp proteins are more easily digested, absorbed, and used by the human body than soy-protein due to lack of oligosaccharides, that are complex sugars due to which a lot of people have plaints related to indigestion, gas, and flatulence. The protein structure of hemp seeds, originally, is 66% edestin and 33% albumin.
Globulins and albumins are globular proteins. Albumin and Edestin have quite similar molecular structure compared to protein found in the human body, due to which hemp protein is very easily absorbed into human blood and assumes critical roles like DNA repair.
It also aids in the making and functioning of plentiful enzymes, hormones, hemoglobin, and antibodies in the human body.
Proteins in hemp milk do not contain the anti-nutrients that are contained in a lot of unsoaked or non-fermented whole grains, seeds, and legumes (including soy). These are phytic acid (or phytates) and enzyme inhibitors (both found in soy too).
Phytic acid is a substance present in the brans and hulls of all legumes and seeds (including soy and soy milk), that adversely affects Vitamin D metabolism and bone-growth, and also gives rise to mineral-deficiencies in the body and tooth-decay leading to a weak immune system.
Enzyme inhibitors, basically prevent the enzymes in our body, especially natural digestive enzymes from functioning normally at all, thus interfering with our digestive health, acting as a stress issue on the pancreas, and hampering or most entirely blocking the uptake of trypsin that is required for digesting protein and the uptake of amino acids.

All 10 Essential Amino Acids

The human body needs 21 amino acids in order to survive. Eight amino acids from the essential list can be obtained from food ,and the other two are synthesized only if all other eight are consumed.
No other plant or animal source for food has been found to have all the first ten essential amino acids that hemp milk contains. Hemp seeds health benefits are no different from other seeds in having amino acids.
However, what does make them special is that they have amino acids in the right albumin-globulin ratio in the form of globulin estedin: 65%, glutamin, and 35% albumin. Amino acids are good for fighting against cardiovascular diseases, healing brain-damage like cognitive loss of memory or learning and some other functions.

Phytosterols

Phytosterols (also called 'plant sterols') are phytochemicals, but are absent not in cow milk. They reduce inflammation and block cholesterol absorption from your intestines. Thus, it lowers the cholesterol levels in your body and prevents risks of heart-disease. They also play an important role in hormone-regulation and cell-metabolism.
Growing hemp, as farmers have discovered, regenerates the soil in which it grows, and stumps the growth of weeds. It doesn't need any insecticides or pesticides, making it very eco-friendly. According to an estimate, about 90% Canadian hemp is sold in the US.
Hemp milk, with its 'slightly nutty and chalky flavor' (according to the people who have tried it), would probably make some tongues a bit repulsed.
After all, some good things do require time for us to take a liking to, as we're in a world where the mundane and harmful things seems to endorse themselves as something good, by way of business and advertising that you might be habituated to (even might have taken to loving it) for far too long.
But when you know you're doing yourself and the environment a favor by drinking hemp milk the only question remains, why not?
