Cabbage Soup Recipe for Weight Loss

Cabbage is widely grown around the world, and is from the Brassicaceae group of flowering plants. It has been used as a vegetable since ages, and is also a popular ingredient in various dishes, soups, and stews.
Many people must have also heard about the famous cabbage soup diet, which has received its fair share of supporters and criticism. This soup is helpful for eliminating body fat and also provide you with a healthy immune system.

Chicken Cabbage Soup

Ingredients:
  • Green onions, 6
  • Cans of diced tomatoes, 2
  • Green peppers, 2
  • Cabbage, ½
  • Celery, 1 bunch
  • Chicken cubes, 2 (this ingredient is optional)
  • Onion soup mix, 1 pack
  • Soy sauce, curry powder, salt, pepper, parsley, and garlic powder for taste
Preparation:
  1. Take a large pot, and wet it with cooking spray.
  2. Now saute all vegetables, except cabbage and tomatoes.
  3. Saute them till they become tender.
  4. Add cabbage, and around 10 cups of water.
  5. Now add the chicken cubes, the onion soup mix, and all the ingredients for taste.
  6. Cook for about 15 minutes, and add tomatoes.
  7. Serve hot.

Cabbage and Buttermilk Soup

Ingredients:
  • Finely shredded green cabbage, 3 cups
  • Buttermilk, 2 cups
  • Beef or chicken broth, 3 cups
  • Finely diced cucumber, 1
  • Minced fresh dill, 1 tbsp
  • Prepared mustard, 1 tbsp
  • Fresh parsley, 2 tbsp
Preparation:
  1. Take a medium saucepan, add the broth heat it, then add the cabbage.
  2. Simmer for about 10 min.
  3. Remove the pan from the flame and add the mustard, dill, and sugar.
  4. Mix well. Pour in the buttermilk, and add the diced cucumber.
  5. You can have this soup hot or cold, depending on your taste.
  6. Use the parsley for garnishing this delicious recipe.

Mixed Vegetable Soup

Ingredients:
  • Large dark green cabbage, 1
  • Carrots, 2
  • Mushroom, 2 pounds
  • Water cress
  • Single Red, green and yellow pepper
  • Rocket leaves
  • Big leeks
  • Diced onions, 3
Preparation:
  1. Take a medium saucepan.
  2. Add all the ingredients, and cook it until the soup boils.
  3. After bringing it to a boil turn the heat down, and cook for another 10 to 15 minutes for a better taste.

Meat Cabbage Soup

Ingredients:
  • Diced lean boneless pork, ½ pound
  • Shredded cabbage, 4 cups
  • Condensed tomato soup, 1 can
  • Condensed beef broth, 1 can
  • Soup cans water, 2
  • Chopped onion, ½ cup
  • Paprika, 1 tbsp
  • Salt, 1 tbsp
  • Shortening, 1 tbsp
  • Sour cream
  • Dash pepper
Preparation:
  1. Take a medium saucepan, and add the broth with shortening.
  2. Add all the ingredients except sour cream, and bring it to a boil.
  3. Cook on low heat over 30 minutes, and stir after few minutes.
  4. Make sure you serve hot, and garnish it with sour cream.
