3 Day Detox Diet Plan

The 3 day detox diet plan is a short program for getting rid of body wastes, with little changes in the daily diet. This cleanse benefits in improving digestive health, energy level, focusing power, and more importantly, relieving stress.
The detox diet is a holistic approach, aimed at removing body toxins through modification in the food and eating habits. Cleansing your body at regular intervals is as important as eating healthy foods, and performing exercises to stay fit. Because, everyone of us have some amount of toxins in the body, which impair the immune system and organ functions.
Basically, they are contributed by processed foods, supplements, and pollutants. Body detox helps in flushing off these accumulated wastes, and restoring the normal body functions.

The Diet

This diet plan is all about managing digestive problems, stressful conditions, and relaxing the body. Majority of the detox plans call for long-term diet modifications and fasting. But, not all the participants succeed in sticking to fasting, and specific food items for an extended period. In short, it is very challenging to follow the plan and get results.
This diet attracts those, who are impressed with the benefits of body cleansing, but have less time to participate in the detox regime. People who constantly feel bloated, fatigued, and mentally tired are prospective candidates for such a diet.
However, a word of caution with such a diet program is, it may not suit patients who are diagnosed with diabetes, heart disease, and immune disorders. Hence, prior approval of the concerned doctor is required.

A Few Tips

During the 3 day detox period, the bulk of the diet comprises organic fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Drinking ample amounts of water (at least 2 liters per day) and low calorie drinks is a necessity to aid in the body detox process.
Besides this, the diet is supplemented with psyllium husks, liquorice root, and other fiber rich herbs. One has to avoid processed foods, caffeine, carbonated drinks, nutritional supplements, and unhealthy habits like smoking, alcohol consumption, and taking recreational drugs.
One should start his/her day with a glass of warm water mixed with freshly squeezed lemon juice. The warm water and lemon juice initiate the cleansing process of the digestive tract. There is no limitation for drinking green tea and water during the detox program.
However, make sure that refined sugar is not used in making green tea. For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, one can consume any of the given food serving options.

Breakfast Menu

  • The regular muesli, wherein whole grain cereals are mixed with fresh fruits.
  • A serving of frozen yogurt with a plate of fresh berries or other fruits.
  • One serving of porridge prepared with plain water, yogurt, banana, raisins, or other dried fruits.
  • Fruit juice with a piece of toast, half banana, and one boiled egg.
  • Herbal tea prepared with natural sweetener (low calorie), a piece of toast (with 1 tablespoon almond butter spread), and half orange.

Lunch Menu

  • Sprouted chickpea salad, topped with watercress, and nuts.
  • Tea prepared with natural sweetener, 5 saltine crackers, and ½ cup tuna.
  • Serve ½ cup each of tuna and cheddar cheese with 2 pieces of toasts, or 8 - 10 saltine crackers.
  • Oatcakes with a serving of mixed vegetable salad and hummus.
  • Rye bread with low calorie dip sauce and fresh fruits.

Dinner Menu

  • Mixed salad (vegetable and fruit) with 5 slices of soy cheese, and an apple.
  • A piece of organic chicken or salmon with mixed salads, topped with sesame seeds.
  • Grilled fish (or other lean meat) with steamed vegetables on the side.
  • A serving of rice cooked with green been (pilaf) and mixed salad as side dish.
  • Cooked brown rice with red lentil curry and fresh fruit juice.
As far as 3 day fruit detox is concerned, it revolves around protein drinks, fresh fruits, juices, raw vegetables, and lean protein. Also, there are 3 day detox diets for weight loss. Truly speaking, all detox diets are planned for getting rid of toxins from the body, but not for shedding kilos.
Even if there is reduction in the weight scale after participating in the fad diets, they are not effective for long-term weight management. The difference in weight is actually contributed by loss of bodily fluids, but not by fat loss.
In a nutshell, this diet plan is beneficial to improve vitality, maintain normal bowel habit, and minimize susceptibility to diseases. However, it is not an ideal solution for losing weight and body shaping.
There is nothing that works against the body metabolism for staying healthy, and controlling weight. So, to achieve the same, follow detox diet, gear up for performing activities, and eat a balanced diet with lots of raw fruits, vegetables, whole and high fiber foods.
